"This book was filled with a little bit of steam, a whole lot of action, and a realistic plot line that you can’t help but be sucked into. I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid of pirates who need a good ass kickin’!"
"I rate this book a Get Your Own Copy! A book you love so much, no way are you loaning it out. Worthy of high praise and frequent recommendations – but trust us, if you let someone borrow this one, they’ll “forget” to return it."
"Filled with adrenaline pumping moments and those sensually stirring scenes of passion that never fails to evoke all the right kind of emotions, Midnight Sun is recommended for those who love romantic suspense in unusual settings."
This wasn’t the adventure she’d signed up for…
A sexy boss, a rough crossing, and pirates—all Brylie Winston wanted was a job to help her earn money to buy her own restaurant. She hopes to earn it by working as a chef on a cruise to Antarctica. But she’s slept with her boss, which throws her off-balance even more than the rough seas and warnings of pirates in the area. And he’s determined to have a repeat performance…
Bad boy former snowboarder Marcus Devlin is running from his reputation, sent to learn the family business after decking a senator’s son and making the papers. So maybe he indulged in a last-minute fling before boarding his family’s cruise ship to Antarctica. Perhaps Fate is showing him that wasn’t so bad—the gorgeous redhead who snuck out of his bed is on the cruise. She’ll be a lovely distraction during his exile.
But when modern-day pirates take over the ship, his instinct is to protect her and the other passengers. But what does a spoiled rich boy know about saving people’s lives?

There's nothing like a little steamy sex to spice up an adventure story. I must be getting old, but the sex scenes in this novel were not only predictable, but they dragged on for page after page after page. It got to the point where I just wanted to skip them and get on with the plot. The story was certainly entertaining. The plot line was very plausible. (Imagine a cruise ship, as opposed to the usual merchant vessel, taken over by pirates or terrorists.) The characters developed well. But I could have done with a lot less gratuitous, frankly boring, bedroom athletics. If this is an "adventure romance," then I need to stay away from the genre.
There are parts of this book that I loved and parts that I didn't like. Overall, I'm glad I read it and I enjoyed the story. Some of the pivitol moments of the book were too rushed and could have been drawn out better to make it more suspenseful, but I understand the author wanted to focus on the romance of the book. The biggest reason for me not giving this a higher rating is that I didn't like how indecisive the hero is. He got bored easily and didn't want to work a real job. I could completely understand his brother's frustration with him. I really like a strong alpha guy who takes the world by storm, and the hero in this is more of a rich boy with a chip on his shoulder character that I don't like. I love how he stepped up when they were in danger and took charge, but would've like him more if he did that in life as well. He's from a very wealthy family, yet he's okay to just ride those coattails and not work hard to achieve his own goals. He gets a bronze metal for snowboarding, which makes me think of a 21 year old ski bum. I thought it didn't mesh well with his status. I liked the heroine and how determined she was. I didn't like the ending at all and felt it needed more, at least an epilogue showing that he grew up and got a real career, and she did well with her restaurant. I don't think I'd recommend this book to people, but it's not a waste of time to read either. I got it free, so I had nothing to lose reading it. I don't regret the time. It was a short story, which I like. The author was also good, not very many mistakes in writing, and she was great at painting a picture of the situations around her. Like I said in my header, I have mixed feelings on the book.
Brylie met Marcus in a bar and they were immediately drawn to one another. Not usually her method, she spent the night with him and had one of the most exciting times of her life. She left in the morning before he woke up, not wanting to go through the embarrassing morning after talk. She arrives for a 20 day cruise to Antarctica, where she works as the chef. Only to find that the man she slept with is also there, and just happens to be her boss.
Marcus was a bad boy and his family was so fed up with his attitude and lifestyle that they sent him on this cruise to learn what it takes to run a family cruise line. When he saw Brylie on board, he decided it might not be such a bad experience, especially if Brylie was willing to pick up where they left off the night before.
Several things get in the way of his intended goal. Brylie doesn't want to continue. Her father is the captain of the ship, pirates capture the ship, and when they find out the owner is on board, things really escalate.
Brylie and Marcus are the only two who manage to hide from the pirates. Their attempts to find out what is going on and to call for assistance are met with run-ins with the pirates. They obtain food, weapons, and manage to take out pirates a few at a time.
Lots of action. A few twists and turns in the storyline. An entertaining read.
